Forfeiture Unit
The Forfeiture Unit is comprised of one Assistant Prosecutor and one Secretary.
The Unit is responsible for carrying out the mandates set forth in the forfeiture statute, N.J.S.A. 2C:64-1 et seq. This includes filing a civil complaint against property that has been used to facilitate criminal activity, is proceeds of criminal activity, or is an integral part of criminal activity.
The Unit is also responsible for handling all aspects of forfeiture litigation, including discovery and trial. The cases originate from investigations conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Municipal Police Departments, and the State Police.
